Stop Ignoring That Light: Fix Your TPMS Sensors for Under $80

Don’t pay the dealership $150+ per sensor. Watch how to get that annoying light off your dashboard using affordable Amazon parts—and we’ll install them for you.

Why You Shouldn't Ignore the "Horseshoe" Light

It’s Not Just annoying—It’s Dangerous.

Driving on under-inflated tires destroys your sidewalls and ruins your handling. We recently saw a client driving on 23 PSI without knowing it because their sensors were dead

Why Did They Break?

TPMS sensors have internal batteries that only last 5–7 years. If your car is a 2019 or older, they are likely dead.

Get the Right Parts from Amazon (Cheap)

You can buy aftermarket sensors on Amazon for a fraction of the dealer price. I bought a set for my Ford Explorer for just $51 delivered.

⚠️ WARNING: Do Not Guess! Most cars use either 315MHz or 433MHz frequencies. If you buy the wrong one, it won’t work.

Tesla Model 3 & Model Y (2021 and Newer)

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: You need Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) sensors. Standard radio sensors will not work on these newer models.

  • What to look for: “Tesla Model 3 BLE TPMS” or “Bluetooth”
  • Our Tip: These are pricier than standard sensors but still much cheaper than buying direct from Tesla.

Tesla Model S & Model X (Pre-2021)

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: Standard 433MHz Sensors.

  • What to look for: “Tesla Model S TPMS 433MHz”
  • Our Tip: Unlike the new Models, these use standard radio frequencies. They usually auto-learn after driving for 10-15 minutes.

🚙 Toyota RAV4, Highlander & 4Runner

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: 315MHz Sensors (Clamp-in or Snap-in).

  • What to look for: “Toyota TPMS Sensor 315MHz”
  • Our Tip: Requires Programming. Toyota sensors do not “auto-learn.” You must have a shop (like us!) program the car’s computer to recognize the new IDs, or the light will stay on.

🚙 Ford Explorer & Escape

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: 315MHz Sensors.

  • What to look for: “Ford TPMS Sensor 315MHz”
  • Our Tip: As mentioned in my video, I put these exact ones on my own 2017 Explorer for about $50! Fords are great because they have a “self-learning” mode you can do yourself (often involving honking the horn).

🌲 Subaru Outback, Forester & Crosstrek

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: 315MHz or 433MHz (Varies by year – check the listing!).

  • What to look for: “Subaru TPMS Sensor”
  • Our Tip: Requires Programming. Subarus are notoriously picky. We highly recommend booking us for the install so we can use our OBDII scanner to sync them to your car immediately.

💎 Lexus RX350 & NX Series

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: 315MHz Sensors.

  • What to look for: “Lexus TPMS Sensor 315MHz”
  • Our Tip: Requires Programming. Just like Toyota, Lexus vehicles need a computer reset to accept new sensors. Don’t pay the luxury tax at the dealer; these work perfectly once we program them.

🛻 Ford F-150

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: 315MHz Sensors.

  • What to look for: “Ford F-150 TPMS Sensor”

  • Our Tip: The most popular truck on the road. These sensors are incredibly affordable and usually very easy to sync to the truck.

🛻 Ram 1500

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: 433MHz Sensors.

  • What to look for: “Ram 1500 TPMS Sensor 433MHz”
  • Our Tip: Ram trucks have an excellent “Auto-Learn” system. Usually, you just drive for 10 minutes above 25km/h and the light turns off automatically.

🏎️ BMW X3 & X5

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: 433MHz Sensors.

  • What to look for: “BMW TPMS Sensor 433MHz”
  • Our Tip: BMW charges a fortune for OEM sensors. These aftermarket ones work great and usually reset via the iDrive menu settings.

🏎️ Mercedes-Benz GLC & GLE

[Amazon Canada 🇨🇦] | [Amazon USA 🇺🇸]

  • The Tech: 433MHz Sensors.

  • What to look for: “Mercedes TPMS Sensor 433MHz”
  • Our Tip: Another vehicle with a high “luxury markup” at the dealer. These sensors save you hundreds and typically auto-learn while driving.

🛑 STOP! Do you drive a Honda, Audi, or VW?

[Check Your Valve Stems First!] Many Honda CR-Vs, Civics, Audi Q5s, and VW Tiguans use an “Indirect” system. This means they do not have sensors inside the wheel (they use the ABS system instead).

  • How to check: Wiggle your valve stem (where you put the air in). If it is flexible rubber, you likely don’t need to buy sensors at all!

  • Still unsure? Use the form above to send us your Vehicle/Model.

Let Us Install Them

Once your Amazon box arrives, don’t pay a shop $120 to install them.

If you book a Seasonal Tire Change with The Tire Valet, we will install and program your new customer-supplied sensors for just $10 per tire.

Disclaimer: As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases. The Tire Valet is not responsible for parts purchased by the customer that are incorrect or defective. We offer the installation service on customer-supplied parts as a convenience to our North Shore neighbours.
